Nothing to Report

It's been a funny six months. The work ended with PC Zone as quickly as it started (change of editor), and there's really been nothing to report since then.

The Torchwood book was a disaster. After two very (and contradictory) different briefs (and doubling the word count), it was impossible to continue working on that book - especially when I'd already spent days working on it. What I submitted in the end simply wasn't what they wanted, but when you're working to different song sheets, it's never easy.

I think my days of writing RPGs are over. It is good fun, but the pay is just so dire it's hardly worthwhile.

The personal projects I've tried to work on: the book of short stories never came to fruition. One artist quit due to personal reasons and the artist I finally commissioned decided to drop out in favour of a higher paying job. The last artist did one draft and then never got in touch again. He's probably out there in artist limbo, stuck among the easels and papier mache...

The graphic novel, which I had hoped would have been out in September 2008 - well - the artist took my cash and had no intention of doing the work (thanks Victor Drujniu - your integrity is outstanding).

So I've been really fed up with trying to work on projects and being endlessly let down by people. I do intend keep this website ticking over, there's not a lot to report.

Being the February issue, it will, of course, be out in December!

I have a State of Play two pager in the January issue of PC Zone, it's a hard hitting political article on the current controversies in Britannia...

OK so it's a light-hearted return to the grand-daddy of MMOs, and a few comedy pictures.

But a two pager is still a two pager. Buy the magazine AT ONCE and let me know what you think!

Things are Heavy!

People have no idea how expensive it is to ship things around the world, especially heavy things.

I get emails on a daily basis complaning that the USA price of four bottles of True Blood is just 16 dollars. And that at £10 a bottle, it's far too expensive.

But clearly those people have no conception of how expensive it is to ship 4 kilos (the weight of 4 bottles) across the Atlantic. They think because it's $16, it shouldn't be much more over here.

They're wrong. The price of shipping something across an ocean is vast, and the £34 it costs on my site is far less than the £58 it would cost you (min + Shipping taxes) to buy four bottles yourself.

I don't know why people can't see that.

It took long enough, but it finally happened: after years of trying, I got work with esteemed gaming magazine PC Zone. I'm elated about this, because I get to write about all those games I've been playing (and complaining about) for so long.

My first two pager will be in one of the early 2010 issues when I'll be doing State of Play on the grand-daddy of MMOs, Ultima Online.

It was very strange going back to a twelve year old game, but more on my 2d shenanigans in game.

So, congratulations to me, I think.
