In the February issue of PC Zone (out in about four weeks), I've got a review of Defence of the Ancients full game, League of Legends, and an article on the top 10 free to play MMOs.
Being the February issue, it will, of course, be out in December!
I have a State of Play two pager in the January issue of PC Zone, it's a hard hitting political article on the current controversies in Britannia...
OK so it's a light-hearted return to the grand-daddy of MMOs, and a few comedy pictures.
But a two pager is still a two pager. Buy the magazine AT ONCE and let me know what you think!
These are about the grossest and coolest things ever: they're fruit punch energy drinks in an IV bag.
Check them out at The Geekest Link - who are selling them for the cheapest price in the UK - by a country mile!
And you can read my article returning to the grand-daddy of MMOs, Ultima Online, in the latest issue.
Genuine innovation or decrepit fossil - find out how I got on in the January 2010 issue of PC Zone.
In Stock Now!
The Geekest Link now has the brilliant glass bottle replicas of True Blood from the TV show of the same name in stock. These gorgeous bottles look and taste great. And you can get a piece of vampire action by going to the website:

Enjoy
It took long enough, but it finally happened: after years of trying, I got work with esteemed gaming magazine PC Zone. I'm elated about this, because I get to write about all those games I've been playing (and complaining about) for so long.
My first two pager will be in one of the early 2010 issues when I'll be doing State of Play on the grand-daddy of MMOs, Ultima Online.
It was very strange going back to a twelve year old game, but more on my 2d shenanigans in game.
So, congratulations to me, I think.
Yes, The Geekest Link has copies in stock of the sold out Space Hulk 3rd Edition action-packed boardgame.
Get yours before they vanish into the Chaos Ether.
My Torchwood: Defending the Earth book will shortly be finished to go off to the publisher for editing and commentary. I don't know when it will be in stores (presumably early 2010) but the whole Doctor Who: Role Playing Game looks and feels amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy, which is in shops December 2009.
More news on my book and the DW: RPG when I have it.
The Geekest Link is now selling all those lovely points cards for the DS / Wii and XBOX Live.
It's the cheapest place to buy XBOX Live 3 and 12 months, and for 2100 and 4200 XBOX Live Points. You can also get Nintendo Points there, too.

Excitement!
After months of having absolutely nothing to talk about, no books or news of any kind, I finally have lots to say. Here's the lowdown:
Oh and I'm going to have a redesign of this website in the near future (but we've all heard that before).
Phew. That's it. Message ends. Come back in a bit for more specific updates.
I might also find the time to talk about the massive edits and changes I made to Summoner Chronicles and how a good editor can make all the difference.
I'm hard at work finishing Diary of a Murderer, although I'm considering changing the book's title to Memoirs of a Murderer (as Diary sounds like something from Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole). I originally wanted to write the book as a series of diary pages, but a retrospective on the life of the main character is flowing much more nicely (nicelier?).
So, Memoirs it is, and aside from putting myself off food with some truly grotesque parts (even in the early chapters), things are going quite smoothly.
I've also discovered that my spelling while writing is appalling; I make no attempt to get it right the first time - I just want to get it all down on paper. That might not be of interest to anyone, but I thought I'd mention it as a part of my own creative process. I need to go back and spell check every page before I even start the editing process. Again, with this novel, I'm going to get it all written first before I go back and edit it all. I usually leave it to stand for a month or two after the first pass, and I end up writing whole sections again anyway (apparently that's very common for writers).
Anyway, there you go. I'll come back in a day or two and update you again. But what do you think, Diary or Memoirs?
Which has the better ring to it?
I've got a new column. It's called MMO Watch and it's all about the massively multiplayer game.
You can visit it at: http://mmowatch.blogspot.com/
As a primer to the content and general naughty language, I'd recommend you visiting my MMO Drinking Game post, which puts a new slant on the MMO over the festive season.
Please sign up and let me know what you think!
Issue #3 of MMO Magazine is now online, and you can check out my reviews of Alone in the Dark and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII by visiting the following link.

I think the guys at MMO Magazine did a great job in getting the magazine off the ground. It looks better with every issue.
I went to a Game Republic conference last night in Leeds. Game Republic is a UK based company that allows networking between people who work in gaming and people who want to work in gaming.
I picked up some very interesting contacts.
And come Monday, I should have some very exciting news.
What sounds better for a book title:
Work is well underway on my new book (whose name shall remain a secret for a bit longer). BUT, I've been giving serious thought to the ending and, in particular, the kinds of zombies that will feature in my book.
It sounds straightforward, but it's really not. I was leaning toward the traditional zombie, but I'm also eager to write about supernatural zombies (ie. ones that aren't created through genetic research).
Are normal (biological) zombies inherently scarier than ones created by magic (even if they act exactly the same)? And, strangely enough, are the mundane zombies somehow scarier?
So, which option do I go for?
I was going to talk about NASA's findings today (will do that tomorrow), but I watched the remake of Dawn of the Dead last night, which is such a great horror movie.
And, it inspired me to start writing a new book. I'm already several chapters into it (worked pretty much all night) and I'm really excited about it. I haven't been this inspired to write a book in years, so let's hope something decent comes of it.
I'm not going to say too much just yet, but you can bet that if I was inspired by Dawn of the Dead, that it's got something to do with zombies.
For me, though. I struggle with great ideas and concepts. I can write about people all day long but I struggle to get started if I've not got a strong concept. And while it might not be the most original of ideas, I certainly think it's got a very strong story. More news as I have it (although it could just as easily be condemned to obscurity at this stage).
So, as you know, my Column is a year old, and let's be honest, I've not exactly gone out of my way to take the next step forward into the technological age.
And that got me to thinking: could I do more?
And, even more importantly, should I?
I am, of course, talking about doing a weekly / monthly video show. I could review games, talk about life, and be generally very amusing indeed*. I'll be me doing what I do best: talking total cr@p for ten minutes. Bargain!
Is this a good idea, vote now. If I can get ten positive votes for my video show on here on in my forums, I'll do a demo next month.
Get voting.
As you may remember, Alan Connor is a very old friend of mine, and his new single Dance Away has now been released.
You can find the single available on download from the following sites:
Or do a search on iTunes for all those nifty remixes.
A physical CD will be available in stores but until then, it can be ordered on-line via Jumbo Records in Leeds.
Alan, I wish you a lot of luck with the new single. it's great!
